Profile or Page

One LinkedIn login offers two kinds of thing to connect: your own member profile, or any Company Page you administer. Choose the one that is the brand. An agency posting for a client almost always wants the client's Company Page; a founder posting as themselves wants the profile.

Connecting

  1. Open the brand's Connections and press Connect on LinkedIn. You sign in at LinkedIn and approve the request.
  2. Pick the profile or Company Page for this brand from the list.

If the list is empty, the LinkedIn app this deployment uses is missing the Community Management scopes; disconnect and reconnect once they are granted.

What the connection does

Publishes posts with images or video, reads post and Page results for analytics and reports, and — when a LinkedIn ad account is bound — reads paid results. LinkedIn campaigns can be read and alerted on, but not paused from here.

Keeping it working

LinkedIn tokens expire after a period LinkedIn sets. The daily connection check flags an expired one and the brand shows Reconnect; nothing publishes on that network until someone does. Disconnecting removes our copy of the tokens and is audited.
